Affirmed Get the app

Terms of Service

Version 3.1. Last updated 26 October 2026.

These terms are the agreement between you and AFFIRMED.IO LTD ("Affirmed", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales (company number 16175895) at 20 Wenlock Road, London, England, N1 7GU.

By creating an account or using Affirmed, you accept these terms. Please read them. If you do not agree, do not use Affirmed.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal data. It is a separate document, not part of these terms.

1. What Affirmed is

Affirmed is a self-help and wellbeing app. It helps you create personalised affirmations, meditations and visualisations, listen to audio, keep a journal, check in with your mood, build or break habits, and work on the kind of person you want to be. Some features use AI.

We keep improving Affirmed, so features may change over time (see section 12).

2. Affirmed is not medical care

Please read this section carefully.

Affirmed is not a medical device, and it is not a healthcare, therapy or counselling service. Nothing in it, including what Seva or any other AI feature says, is medical, psychological or professional advice, diagnosis or treatment.

Do not use Affirmed instead of professional help. Do not start, stop or change any treatment or medication because of something in the app. If you have a physical or mental health condition, talk to a doctor or other qualified professional about what is right for you. Some meditation and breathwork exercises may not suit everyone. Stop if you feel unwell, dizzy or distressed.

The habit and recovery tools support change. They are not a treatment programme for addiction and are not a substitute for professional treatment, support groups or medically supervised withdrawal.

If you are in crisis, or thinking about harming yourself or someone else, do not rely on Affirmed. Get help now.

  • UK: call 999, or Samaritans free on 116 123, or text SHOUT to 85258
  • US: call or text 988, or call 911
  • Anywhere else: call your local emergency number

Affirmed also shows helplines for your country when you check in with a difficult mood.

3. Who can use Affirmed

You must be 16 or older. By creating an account you confirm that you are.

4. Your account

  • Sign up with your email address, Apple or Google, and keep your details accurate.
  • Your account is for you alone. Do not share it or let anyone else use it.
  • Keep your sign-in details secure. Tell us straight away at info@affirmed.io if you think someone else has got into your account.
  • You are responsible for what happens in your account, unless it was caused by our failure to keep the service secure.

5. AI features

5.1 How it works

With your permission, Affirmed uses AI to write scripts, turn them into speech, create cover artwork, write your identity statement and weekly recap, and let Seva, our AI guide, talk with you. Our Privacy Policy explains what is sent to which AI provider and how you can withdraw it. Affirmed is built on AI, so agreeing to AI processing is a condition of using it.

Every affirmation, meditation, visualisation and breathwork track in Affirmed, including the ones in the library, is made with AI: its script, its voice and its cover artwork. Affirmed Music songs are made with AI too. Ambient sounds and soundscapes are not. Individual tracks are not marked, so this is where we tell you.

5.2 What to expect from AI

  • AI makes things by prediction. What it produces can sometimes be wrong, odd, or not right for your situation. Read or listen with that in mind, and ignore anything that does not fit.
  • Seva is an AI, not a person, a therapist or a doctor. It cannot understand your situation the way a professional can, and it cannot help in an emergency.
  • If anything AI-generated upsets you or seems harmful, stop using it and tell us through Report a problem in Settings, or email info@affirmed.io.

5.3 Using AI responsibly

When using AI features, you agree not to:

  • try to trick Seva or any AI feature into ignoring its safety instructions, or into producing harmful, abusive, sexual or illegal content
  • ask for content about a real person, other than yourself, that could embarrass, harass or harm them, or include someone else's private information without their permission
  • use AI features to get medical, legal or financial advice, or to help you in a crisis
  • use Affirmed's output to train, test or build another AI system

An automatic safety check may stop some content being saved or sent (see our Privacy Policy). If you think it got something wrong, tell us.

6. Your content

6.1 What is yours

"Your content" means what you write, record or create in Affirmed: your journal, check-ins, habits, identity statement, the words you type into a creation, and the scripts and audio made for you.

You own your content. We do not claim ownership of it.

6.2 What you allow us to do

You give us permission to store, copy, process and show your content, and to send it to our service providers, only so we can provide Affirmed to you. That includes making it into audio and artwork and keeping it available on your devices.

This permission is not exclusive. It is free of charge, and it ends when you delete that content or your account, except for the limited copies our Privacy Policy says we keep for a set time.

We will not sell your content, publish it, show it to other users, or use it to train AI.

6.3 Tracks made for you

You may use the affirmations, meditations and visualisations Affirmed makes for you, including their audio, for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may share them with friends and family, and share the images you make in Affirmation Cards.

You may not sell them, or use them in a commercial product, service, podcast or advert, without our written permission. That is because each track is built from voices, music, soundscapes and artwork that we license or own. Cover artwork may come from a shared library, so other people may see the same image.

6.4 Content rules

Do not create, store or share content in Affirmed that:

  • is illegal, or encourages anything illegal
  • is hateful, harassing, threatening or abusive
  • sexualises children in any way
  • infringes someone else's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights
  • contains viruses or code meant to cause harm

Writing honestly about difficult feelings, including self-harm, is not against these rules. We would rather you did that than kept it to yourself. We will still point you to real help.

7. Our content and the app

The Affirmed app, its design, software, name and logo, and the content we provide are owned by us or by the people who license them to us. That includes library tracks, voices, music, soundscapes, artwork, breathwork patterns and courses.

We give you a personal, non-transferable licence to use the app and our content for your own non-commercial wellbeing, in line with these terms. You may not:

  • copy, sell, rent or redistribute the app or our content, except as the app itself allows (such as downloading for offline listening)
  • copy, scrape or download content in bulk, or use automated tools to access Affirmed
  • take apart, reverse-engineer or attempt to access our source code, except where the law allows it
  • get around security features, credit limits or screen-recording protections
  • interfere with, overload or attack the service
  • use Affirmed to build a competing product

8. Acceptable use

As well as the rules above, do not use Affirmed in a way that breaks the law, harms other people, or harms Affirmed. Do not pretend to be someone else, and do not create accounts with false details or in bulk.

9. Subscriptions, free trials and credits

Affirmed needs an active subscription. There are three plans, Premium, Essentials and My Creations; the app shows what each includes, its monthly credits and its price before you choose. Without an active subscription or free trial you cannot open any content in Affirmed, including tracks you made yourself. Where we start charging for something that was free, we will tell you before you are asked to pay.

My Creations lets you play and download the tracks you made yourself, with background music from the Melodies collection. Nothing else in the app is included, and it has no credits, so you cannot make anything new on it. A track you made with other music plays with a Melodies track instead.

9.1 Buying

Subscriptions and credit packs are bought through the Apple App Store or Google Play, under their terms as well as these. Before you buy, the app shows the price, how often you will be charged, and what is included. That information is part of these terms.

9.2 Automatic renewal

Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period, at the then-current price, and your Apple or Google account is charged, until you cancel.

To cancel, go to your App Store or Google Play subscription settings. Cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends to avoid being charged for the next one. After you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for.

Deleting your Affirmed account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it in your store settings too.

We may tell you about My Creations when you cancel, by notification and email, if you have agreed to hear about offers.

9.2a When a subscription ends

When your subscription ends, you can no longer open any content in Affirmed, including the tracks you made yourself. Your account, your data and what you made are kept, locked, and everything comes back if you subscribe again. You can download your data or delete your account at any time, subscribed or not.

9.3 Free trials

If your plan has a free trial, the app tells you how long it lasts before you start. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, it turns into a paid subscription automatically, and you are charged. You can only have one free trial. If a trial ends without becoming a paid subscription, the app is locked until you subscribe, including anything you made during the trial. What you made is kept on your account, locked, until you subscribe or delete it.

9.4 Price changes

If the subscription price changes, Apple or Google will tell you before it applies to you, and where the law or their rules require, ask you to agree. If you do not want to pay the new price, cancel before it takes effect.

9.5 Creation credits

  • Your subscription gives you a number of creation credits each period, as shown in the app. Making a personalised track uses credits; the app shows the cost before you create.
  • Credits are taken when a creation starts. If it fails, the credits are returned.
  • Monthly credits do not carry over. Any left at the end of a period expire, and the new period's credits replace them.
  • You can buy one-off credit packs on Premium or Essentials. Bought credits never expire, and are used only once your monthly credits have run out. They can only be spent on Premium, on Essentials or during a free trial. If you move to My Creations or your subscription ends, they are not lost: they wait on your account, and you can spend them again as soon as you are back on Essentials or Premium.
  • Credits have no cash value. They cannot be exchanged for money, transferred or sold. They end when your account is deleted.
  • We may give free credits as a goodwill gesture. They work the same way unless we tell you otherwise.

9.6 Refunds

When you buy through the App Store or Google Play, Apple or Google sells it to you and takes the payment, so refunds go through them:

  • Apple: ask for a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com, or through your purchase history on your device. Apple decides, and we cannot refund Apple purchases ourselves.
  • Google Play: ask for a refund through your order history in the Play Store or at play.google.com. Google decides, and we cannot refund Google Play purchases ourselves.

If a subscription is refunded, it ends straight away, and you can no longer create new tracks with it. What you have already made stays on your account, locked, until you subscribe again. You can still download your data or delete it at any time. If a credit pack is refunded, we may remove the credits it added, or whatever is left of them.

Cancelling stops future payments but does not refund the period you have already paid for, unless the law or the store's own policy says otherwise.

Nothing here affects your legal rights as a consumer, including your right to cancel under UK consumer law and your rights if a paid feature does not work as described. If something has gone wrong, tell us at info@affirmed.io and we will help you get it put right, whichever store you bought from.

10. Other companies' services

Affirmed relies on other companies to work, including Apple, Google, OpenAI, ElevenLabs and our hosting providers. Your use of Apple's and Google's services, such as sign-in and payments, is also covered by their own terms. We are not responsible for services that other companies provide directly to you.

11. Availability

We work to keep Affirmed running smoothly, but we cannot promise it will always be available or free of errors. We may need to pause it for maintenance, updates or reasons outside our control. Offline downloads let you keep listening when you cannot connect.

12. Changes

12.1 Changes to Affirmed

We may add, change or remove features. If a change means a paid feature you rely on gets significantly worse, we will tell you in advance and you can cancel. Where the law gives you a right to a refund in that situation, you keep it.

12.2 Changes to these terms

We may update these terms, for example to reflect new features or changes in the law. We will change the version number and date at the top. For significant changes, we will tell you in the app or by email at least 30 days before they take effect, unless the change is needed sooner for legal or safety reasons. If you do not agree, you can stop using Affirmed and delete your account before the change takes effect. If you carry on using Affirmed after that, the new terms apply.

13. Ending this agreement

13.1 You

You can stop using Affirmed at any time. You can delete your account from Settings, Data & Privacy. It is deleted after a 7 day window in which you can change your mind. Remember to cancel any subscription in your store settings.

13.2 Us

We may suspend or close your account if:

  • you seriously or repeatedly break these terms
  • your use puts other people, or Affirmed, at risk
  • the law requires us to
  • we stop providing Affirmed altogether

Where it is safe and lawful, we will tell you why and give you a chance to put things right, and give you time to download your data first. If we close Affirmed altogether, we will give you reasonable notice. Where you have paid for a period you can no longer use because of that, we will make sure you are not left out of pocket, within what our store providers allow.

13.3 What continues

Sections 6.3, 7, 14, 15 and 17 still apply after this agreement ends.

14. Our responsibility to you

  • If we fail to meet these terms, or fail to use reasonable care and skill, we are responsible for loss you suffer that was a foreseeable result. Loss is foreseeable if it was obvious it would happen, or if we both knew it might happen when you accepted these terms.
  • Affirmed is for personal use. We are not responsible for business losses, such as lost profit, lost business or business interruption.
  • We are not responsible for decisions you make about your health, treatment, relationships, work or money based on content in Affirmed, including AI-generated content, because section 2 explains it is not advice.
  • We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control.
  • If we are responsible for a loss, our total liability to you is limited to the greater of £100 or the amount you have paid for Affirmed in the 12 months before the claim.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer, including under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

15. Disputes

If you are unhappy with Affirmed, please talk to us first at info@affirmed.io. Most problems can be sorted out quickly.

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. You can bring legal proceedings in the courts of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland you can also use the Scottish courts, and if you live in Northern Ireland, the Northern Irish courts. If you live in the EU, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in, and can bring proceedings there.

16. If you downloaded Affirmed from the Apple App Store

These extra terms apply if you use Affirmed on an Apple device:

  1. This agreement is between you and Affirmed only, not Apple. Affirmed, not Apple, is responsible for the app and its content.
  2. Your licence to use the app is limited to Apple-branded devices you own or control, as allowed by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
  3. Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the app.
  4. If the app fails to meet any warranty that applies, you may tell Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price of the app (if any). To the extent the law allows, Apple has no other warranty obligation for the app.
  5. Affirmed, not Apple, is responsible for dealing with any claims about the app, including product liability claims, claims that it fails to meet a legal or regulatory requirement, and consumer protection, privacy or similar claims.
  6. If anyone claims that the app or your use of it infringes their intellectual property rights, Affirmed, not Apple, is responsible for investigating, defending, settling and discharging that claim.
  7. You confirm that you are not in a country subject to a US government embargo or designated as supporting terrorism, and are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  8. You must follow any third-party terms that apply when you use the app.
  9. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. Once you accept them, Apple has the right to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

17. General

  • The whole agreement. These terms, with the information shown when you buy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Affirmed.
  • Transfer. We may transfer this agreement to another organisation, for example if Affirmed is sold, and will tell you if that happens. Your rights under these terms will not be reduced. You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else.
  • Other people. Apart from Apple under section 16, no one else has any rights under these terms.
  • If part is invalid. If a court decides part of these terms cannot be enforced, the rest still applies.
  • Delays. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
  • Notices. We will contact you by email or in the app. You can contact us at info@affirmed.io.
